Sufi Wednesday Class & Gathering ~ In person
*New* Weekly in-person Message Class in London
We’re happy to announce that starting with the 15th of January, in-person classes will resume, every Wednesday, at the London Sufi Centre at CCPE (near Paddington), Universel room.
6.30-7pm, Dances of Universal Peace
These dances come from different religions around the world. In the dance, we attune to the specific tradition of the particular religion while chanting sacred phrases and names for God. Through chanting together and moving in simple steps, the body is involved in the meditation.
Some dances involve connecting with other participants. Through this meeting, there is the potential for seeing the divine in one another. Something ordinary (dancing) becomes a vehicle for experiencing the extaordinary. We can encounter intimacy at a level beyond the personality, which touches the level of the soul. Through these practices we can discover the sacredness and majesty within ourselves and others, and discover something of divinity behind humanity.
7-8pm, Message Class
Each class is taught by various senior teachers, focusing on a particular aspect of the work of Hazrat Inayat Khan, a 20thCentury mystic. The teachings concentrate on how to apply spiritual principles to our daily lives, helping us to lead more balance, harmonious and creative lives, and to apply the spiritual ideals of love, harmony, and beauty to the challenges and opportunities we face.
During the course of the evening, meditation and Sufi practices are shared in the group. There is also time for questions and a chance to connect socially with others at the end of the evening.
The principal message of Hazrat Inayat Khan is that of the unity of all spiritual traditions. The journey is Towards the One, beyond the distinctions and differences that separate us (those of all spiritual and religious backgrounds are welcome). Hazrat Inayat Khan’s work helps to awaken us beyond the fixed concepts we have of ourselves and the world. And we discover meaningfulness and purpose in our lives and an understanding of the meaning of service to humanity.
